Telenor and Reitan Group to enter into Scandinavian agreement

: Telenor has entered into an agreement with the Reitan Group for supply of a Nordic data network to the Reitan Group's approximately 1,500 sales outlets, as well as 50 offices and warehouses in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.


As part of the agreement, Telenor will be responsible for development and management of the Reitan Group's central Nordic data network, including accesses to the sales outlets. The Reitan Group operates in the commodity and property markets, focusing on the three Scandinavian countries. The Reitan Group specialises in organisation and management of franchise based activities - including the Rema 1000, Narvesen/Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven concepts.

The proposed network will be based on IP VPN (Virtual Private Network over the Internet) with ADSL/SHDSL broadband as the communications carrier in the data network. With the network in place the Reitan Group will connect its Nordic activities through one network. This involves opportunities for adopting a number new services and solutions that contribute to a further efficiency improvements in the Reitan Group's business activities.

Telenor submitted the best offer in respect of both price and quality," said Kjell Engemoen, Managing Director of the Reitan Group's IT operation Aureus Data.

"This agreement is an enhancement and expansion of the excellent cooperation Telenor has had with the Reitan Group for several years. In addition is this agreement an important contribution to our vision of being a major operator in the Nordic telecom market", said Stein-Erik Vellan, executive vice president for Telenor Business Norway.

The agreement is of a three-year duration, and has a gross value of approximately NOK 45 million based on its current scope. The number of units connected to the data network is expected to increase substantially during the agreement period.
