Telenor acquires Danish football rights

Telenor Broadcast has for the first time secured TV-rights to Danish top football. The agreement between the Danish Divisjonsforeningen, owner of the media rights, and Telenor Broadcast include the rights for two live matches in each league round.

Telenor secured that all matches will be produced for live broadcast, and will be distributed on DR and dk4. The agreements last for 3 years, starting in 2009 and ending in 2012.

"We are very satisfied with securing the TV-rights for Danish top football. Football is among the most attractive content for broadcasting", says Christian Bernau, Director football in Telenor.

The TV-rights where sold in three different packages. The rights to all three packages could not be acquired by the same company. Telenor has acquired the rights to package 2.
