The current Head of Telenor Research will commence his new position in Telenor’s Finnish subsidiary on 1 April 2022.
Bjørn Taale Sandberg becomes DNA’s Chief Strategy Officer and executive team member, succeeding Christoffer von Schantz, who assumed the role as Vice President of DNA’s broadband and TV business in late 2021.
“Bjørn Taale has extensive experience from the industry in terms of business management, strategy, technology, and future research. He also has an excellent attitude and a desire to develop constantly. I believe Bjørn Taale will bring new expertise and insight to the management team, which will help DNA to remain successful also in the future,” says Jussi Tolvanen, CEO of DNA.
Sandberg has worked in the telecom sector for more than 25 years and has been with Telenor since 2000. For the last ten years, he has served as the Head of Telenor Research. Prior to this, he has held several senior director positions in the Group and other Telenor operating companies, including Chief Marketing Officer in Telenor Pakistan and head of Strategy for Telenor Mobile Communications. Sandberg holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Oslo and a Master of Management from Oslo Business School (BI).
In his new role, Sandberg reports to and works closely with CEO Tolvanen and as an internal key advisor to the executive team. The Chief Strategy Officer’s key responsibilities include maintenance, implementation, and development of DNA's strategy and corporate advocacy duties.
“I am very flattered and happy to be chosen for the demanding role of CSO and really happy to be joining DNA. The telecommunications industry is more important to the growth and development of society than ever, and DNA has the people and position to be a key contributor in the years to come,” says Sandberg.
