In 2002 Telenor adopted a senior policy to look after its senior employees in Norway. The policy focuses on finding solutions that safeguard the interests of senior employees while accommodating the needs of the employer.

The policy is based on the following:

  • Telenor should build and maintain a diverse workforce.
  • Employee composition should reflect the customer base, also with respect to age.
  • Senior employees have valuable knowledge and experience. They know the Telenor history, culture and mentality better than anyone.
  • Telenor should attract, develop and retain the proper expertise. Senior employees are an important part of this expertise.

The senior policy of Telenor is an integral part of the Group's entire personnel policy, which maintains that employees should lead an active working life until they reach the standard retirement age, which is 67 in Norway.

Individual treatment of senior employees

Telenor recognizes the fact that most employees need individual treatment through certain phases of their lives. The Telenor senior policy should ensure that these employees receive the individual treatment they may need towards the end of their long and active working life. This may involve individual adaptation that enables long-serving senior employees to employ their abilities and experience to the benefit of the Group. The senior policy will also offer some form of protection for senior employees, in case of workforce reductions.
