OMNILINK was founded in April, 1994 and has since grown to become one of the leading Internet service providers in the Rhein-Main-Area. For the five founders of OMNILINK - Thomas Brettinger, Hans-Christoph Deeken, Bernd Driegert, Christian Ebert and Holger Stegemann - the acquisition is the next logical step in expanding into European markets.
Based in Frankfurt, the company offers advanced Internet based services to demanding corporate customers and medium-sized enterprises. OMNILINKs main focus are security issues concerning the Internet. The product portfolio encompasses amongst others managed firewalls, firewall consulting, virtual private networks, email outsourcing and application hosting. OMNILINK offers basic services like leased line and dial-up access to the Internet as well as webserver housing/hosting.
OMNILINK currently has about forty employees and more than 500 business customers. The company already boasts a list of recognised customers, including Frankfurt Airport, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Procter & Gamble, Saatchi & Saatchi and LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG.
Together with e.comp, OMNILINK is to form the basis for Telenor/Telias planned German headquarters for the group's ISP business.Investments into a high-bandwidth German backbone and a strong recruiting push are among the immediate next steps planned to build a strong presence in Germany.
Outside Scandinavia, Telia/Telenor is active in a large number of European countries. The Group's main focus is on mobile communication, satellite services, carrier services and IP-based solutions to business customers. The Group's business ISP subsidiaries have already gained a strong market position in Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain and Hungary.
