Telenor/Telia, the recently merged Scandinavian telecommunications group, continues its ambitious international expansion into Germany. With the acquisition of e.comp, an Internet Service Provider focusing on the business market, Telia/Telenor will enter Germany's large and demanding professional IP-based communication services market.
e.comp was founded in 1996 by Tobias Gonschorek, Jens Weller and Gerhard Wenderoth. The company showed an impressive growth record, and after three years, e.comp is now one of the largest business-market ISPs in the Frankfurt-area.

Based in Darmstadt, the company offers professional communication solutions to corporate customers and medium-sized enterprises. The product portfolio encompasses cost-effective leased line connections to the Internet, virtual private networks, housing/hosting services, Internet consulting and general contracting for comprehensive Internet solutions. The three managing directors will remain in the company, and have high ambitions to give e.comp an even stronger position in the market.

As a result of the acquisition, e.comp can now offer its customers services based on a uniform European infrastructure. This gives large advantages not only to multinational corporations, but also to medium-sized enterprises with subsidiaries in more than one country.

Outside Scandinavia, Telia/Telenor is active in a large number of European countries. The Group's main focus is on mobile communication, satellite services, carrier services and IP-based solutions to business customers. The Groups business ISP subsidiaries already have strong market positions in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
