Telenor to renew the mobile phone: Even easier mobile services

Entry is the name of a new menu option that will appear on selected mobile phones - soon available at sales outlets. Telenor makes it easier to use mobile services - enabling more customers to use their handsets for more than just regular calls and message sending.

"Telenor has a vision that says we should develop ideas that simplify, meaning we should make it easy for customers to start using new products and services. This is why we are now introducing Entry - mobile phones that come prepared with entertainment and utility services. News, sports results, directory enquiries and top-up of prepaid services are easily accessed at the press of a button," says Olav Henrik Kjorstad, head of mobile at Telenor's residential market unit.

Initially, Entry will be launched on the SonyEricsson T630, Siemens CX65 and Nokia 6600 handsets. The first phones will be available in the shops from 1 June. The handsets will be fully ready for use, and customers will not have to make any alterations to their set-ups or subscription plans.

"Many people are already using their mobile phones to check the news. And yet we know that a number of customers are hesitant to take up new services, even services that they find attractive. We have therefore decided to include the most relevant and popular mobile services for this solution, allowing everyone to start using them," says Kjorstad.

The following services are included in the prepared menu on the Entry -handsets:

  1. News: The latest news
  2. Sports: Sports news and results
  3. In the limelight: The latest news form the world of entertainment
  4. Fun and games: Games, ring tones, pictures and animations for your mobile phone
  5. My subscription plan: Information on your mobile subscription, e.g. balance or additional services
  6. Directory enquiry services: Search for unknown phone numbers
  7. Top up your prepaid service: A simple way of topping up your own or other people's prepaid service
  8. Call voice mail: Listen to messages or enter your own welcome message
