The four regional health authorities in Norway and Telenor have entered into agreements for the provision of fixed and mobile telephone services. In total, the agreements are worth approximately NOK 120 million annually. Procurement Services for Health Enterprises (PSHE) has carried out the procurement on behalf of the four regions.

The agreements cover fixed and mobile telephone services and the option of related services over a period of two years from 15 January 2009. The agreements can be extended by a further two years. The agreements cover the four regional health enterprises (the South-Eastern, Western, Central and Northern Norway Health Authorities respectively) and their underlying health authorities and institutions.

In addition to the agreements concerning telephone services, the health authorities can implement the following services from Telenor:

- Proffnett
- InContact, call centre and switchboard
- Alternative duplicated lines
- Alternative routing, common 5-digit numbers
- ADSL for home offices
- Leased connections
- IP telephony
- SMS solutions

"Telecommunication is a vital aspect of the institutions' operations and within the hospital sector effective safety and preparedness solutions are important elements. When Telenor was chosen as supplier, it was their conditions and robust network that were decisive," said Trond Skorstad, who was responsible for the procurement within PSHE, and Bente Mikkelsen, CEO of the South-Eastern Health Authority, in connection with the signing of the agreement for the South-Eastern Health Authority.
