: Increased speeds and unrestricted use are the key elements of Telenor's new ADSL portfolio, effective from 19 March. In addition to focusing on security and entertainment, Telenor makes it even easier to install ADSL.

In August 2002, Telenor introduced so-called volume restrictions for its ADSL products. This was done to ensure that light and normal users would not in fact subsidise large-scale consumers of network capacity, a principle that was adopted in a number of countries around the world.

As of 19 March, these volume restrictions will be removed, as Telenor introduces a number of changes in its current ADSL portfolio.

"Feedback from our customers tells us that they do not want to see volume restrictions, what they want are faster speeds, simpler installation and safer solutions. We need to respond to their wishes," says Berit Kjøll, Director of Divisjon Privatmarked at Telenor. "This is why we now remove the restrictions and increase speeds so that our products now span from 704/128 kbps to 2048/256 kbps. Monthly rates will range from NOK 349 for the basis product, to NOK 549 for the 2 MB product. Security solutions for children (Kidsurf) and adults (Norton Internet Security), and entertainment through the broadband portal iCanal, will be offered to all ADSL subscribers without any additional charge," says Berit Kjøll. This is not something that only new customers will benefit from; all existing customers will be transferred to the new products during the spring, and will receive notification of this.

Between 80 and 90 per cent of Telenor's ADSL customers prefer to handle ADSL installation themselves. Such installation has now been made far simpler. Together with its Australian partner emotum, Telenor has developed a new do-it-yourself package, which guides users through the process step-by-step, all the way from the initial ADSL order is placed, and until the first e-mail is sent via broadband from Telenor. The online ordering solution has also been simplified. In an offer that applies until 1 June, no installation fee will be charged, a service that normally costs NOK 790.

"We believe that the new ADSL portfolio shows that we are listening to the signals we get from the market. Customers want unrestricted use and faster speeds, and they want services to be simple, secure and entertaining. This is what we are now offering Telenor's ADSL customers," says Director Berit Kjøll.
