: On September 1st , Telenor will introduce a two-year trainee programme for young Scandinavian talents who are interested in an exciting future in telecommunications. So far the interest has been overwhelming More than 1,000 candidates from Norway, Sweden and Denmark have applied for the eight trainee positions.

"The deadline for applications is 13 February, which means candidates still have a chance to apply. We want to find and recruit the very best young candidates in Scandinavia, and develop them into future talents in our organisation. We have registered a great demand for such a programme, and we have received a lot of feedback indicating that students and young professionals see Telenor as an attractive workplace. The fact that the programme creates such a huge interest is further confirmation of this," says advisor Hege Sand, who is responsible for the trainee programme. The formal requirements are: A university degree, following at least four years of studies, and a good knowledge of English and at least one of the Scandinavian languages.

Broad professional skills
The eight candidates will receive broad professional training and a unique insight into a highly innovative industry. During the trainee period, the candidates will go through three modules that involve spells both in Scandinavia and at Telenor's international activities. Throughout the trainee period the candidates will receive instruction and guidance from a mentor, and they will also be given follow-up from a manager.

"The candidates will go through two years of extensive training together with a number of interesting people. We will also ensure that the candidates get an opportunity to acquire an international network," promises Hege Sand. Teambuilding is an important part of the programme, and we put a lot of emphasis on making the candidates learn from each other. We are therefore looking for candidates from different backgrounds. "We are especially interested in so-called interdisciplinary skills, e.g. students with a background from both technical and social studies," says Hege Sand.
