Telenor speeds up the pace: three times faster on the net with your mobile

Telenor Mobil has launched an accelerator that will make surfing on the Internet even faster when using a portable PC or a PDA and a mobile phone. The sense of speed will on average be three times as fast, and the service will function on all common GSM mobile phones.

, will constitute the fastest mobile-based Internet access in the market. The accelerator functions by compressing data and discarding irrelevant information such as for example graphics on web pages.
"More and more people are logging on to the Internet with the help of their mobile phones, and with the sense of speed at approximately 50-150 Kb/s, it will now be even easier and more effective to be on the net independent of place and time," said assistant Head of Information, Esben Tuman Johnsen, in Telenor Mobil.
Faster - regardless
One can use the accelerator regardless of whether one is connected by way of normal GSM, with High Speed or with GPRS. The service is free of charge, and accessible for anyone using Telenor Mobil's Internet (TMI).
On normal GSM one will experience a sense of speed three times as fast as the norm. When the filter service is combined with High Speed or GPRS, the speed will be 2.5 times as fast.
The service may be installed by changing the proxy settings in the browser to server filter.telenor.no and port 9080. In order to use TMI, one must be connected to the telephone number (+47) 915 00 920.
