Telenor Mobil introduces a simplified price system on calls to Norway from abroad. Telenor's customers will from now on have only three prices to relate to: one for the Nordic area, one for Western Europe and one for Eastern Europe. The changes imply a total price reduction for Telenor Mobil's customers of NOK 20 million on an annual basis.

"In line with our ambition to make mobile usage as simple and easy-to-understand as possible, we have introduced level pricing on calls home to Norway. Earlier, our customers needed to keep track of around 200 different prices, which we now have reduced to only three. In addition the changes imply a price reduction we believe our customers will appreciate now right before the summer holiday season," says Olav Henrik Kjorstad, head of mobile at Telenor's residential market unit.

With the introduction of new prices, Telenor also introduces taxation by the second on calls from abroad. This means that the customers will be paying for the exact time used and not by the next started minute, which is often the case with international mobile operators. Furthermore all start-up costs claimed by other operators have been removed and replaced by a start-up cost of 0.59 NOK. This is the same start-up cost as for ordinary calls in Norway, but excludes prepaid "RingKontant", which has a start-up price of NOK 1.99.
