Telenor introduces a new service portfolio called the Fornebu model to coincide with the official opening of Telenor's headquarters at Fornebu just outside Oslo. Private industry and public sector activities are being offered access to the same solutions and competence that Telenor now enjoys at Fornebu.

Telenor has created a workplace where 6000 employees can work practically anywhere at any time and still have full access to IT and telecommunication networks. This competence and these solutions are now being made available to others through a separate product portfolio called the Fornebu model. The model allows both private and public enterprises in the Nordic region to profit from the use of improved technology and work processes.

The Fornebu model, which is now being used by the Telenor group throughout Norway, may now be supplied to customers as a complete service where Telenor assumes full operational responsibility. The services will be offered both in the form of modules and as a complete solution where customers can choose from solutions in use at Fornebu today. This includes basic components such as data communication, integrated mobile and fixed-line telephony all the way up to a completely new ICT-platform with full operation of applications. Telenor offers to guide customers through the process, from the basic situation analysis to the implementation and operation of the Fornebu model.

"The new Fornebu model is our contribution to the modernization of Norwegian working life - both in the private and the public sector. By adopting this model, Norwegian enterprises will gain a competitive edge in their development of new future-oriented products and solutions. Enterprises adopting this model will also become more adaptable, which again will increase their possibilities for future success, as we at Telenor have seen," says Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas.

Both private industry and public sector activities have shown an interest in the Fornebu model. More than 400 companies and businesses have so far visited the group's new headquarters to get a demonstration of the various elements of the new Fornebu model.

Telenor has already profited greatly from the introduction of the Fornebu model. The move to Fornebu from 40 different addresses in the Oslo area will give a yearly reduction in housing costs of approximately NOK 70 million and a yearly reduction in ICT-related running costs of NOK 200 million. Several user surveys have revealed that employees are well satisfied with their new workday at Fornebu.
