On Wednesday, Telenor was listed on both the Dow Jones European Sustainability STOXX-index and on the global DJSI World-index. Only three Norwegian companies are listed on both indexes. Telenor is the only telecoms operator in the Nordic Region to be listed on the STOXX-index.
In addition to Telenor only three other Norwegian companies are listed on the STOXX-index, whereas four other Norwegian companies are listed on the global DJSI World.

"It is with great pleasure and a considerable amount of humility that we receive the news that we have been included on both of Dow Jones' sustainability indexes," said CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas. "We see this as a confirmation that we at Telenor recognize our responsibility and we see the listing as an important incentive to make further efforts to ensure the sustainability of our activities in the fields of economy, environment and social relations. The listing is important because a number of international fund managers use these indexes when they make their investments," Baksaas said.

Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited and the Sam Group published the results of their yearly review of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) on Wednesday. DJSI World includes 300 companies from 23 countries, all leading players in the perspective of sustainable activity in the fields of economy, environment and social relations. The pan-European DJSI STOXX includes more than 180 companies from 14 countries. Telenor is ranked as the second best telecoms operator on the DJSI STOXX-index, next to BT.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, introduced in 1999, are the world's first global indexes to monitor companies' collected performances within the fields of economy, environment and social responsibility. Another well-known sustainability index is the London-based FTSE4Good list, where Telenor was included last year, as one of seven Norwegian companies.
