Telenor carries out price reductions, but postpones start-up subscription price hikes

Telenor will carry out the notified price reductions as of the new year, but will postpone the planned price hikes for start-up subscriptions for fixed lines and mobile networks until 1 March of this year. In this way, Telenor will comply with the Norwegian requirement of a two-month prior notice for price increases.
Telenor accepts the injunction from the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority stating that rate increases are subject to a two month prior notification before going into effect, as stipulated in their rules and regulations. For this reason, Telenor has now chosen to delay the planned rate hike on start-up subscriptions for calls on the fixed network as well as mobile network until 1 March this year, while the price reductions and adjustments in relation to the increased VAT will be carried out from the beginning of the new year as planned.
The Norwegian parliamentary resolution to increase the VAT is the reason that Telenor chose to review their price structure on services regarding both fixed networks and mobile networks. The new prices are adjusted both for the new VAT increase as well as the current market situation.
These are the most important price changes (VAT included) which Telenor will be implementing as of January 2001:
Mobile Network
The monthly price for GSM Proff will be reduced from NOK 249 to NOK 224.
Calls from GSM Primær to Telenors fixed network (Mondays-Fridays 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) will be reduced from NOK 1.18 to NOK 1.09 per minute.
Calls from GSM-Privat to Telenors fixed network (Mondays-Fridays 7:00 AM-6:00 PM) will be reduced from NOK 3.99 to NOK 3.69 per minute.
Fixed network
The rates for fixed network call rates (Norway price) will be reduced from NOK 0.22 to NOK 0.21during the daytime (between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM).
Calls from the fixed network to Telenor Mobil will be reduced from NOK 1.40 to NOK 1.34 per minute.
Calls in the fixed network from several countries in and outside of Europe will be reduced by as much as NOK 0.93 per minute.
The following price adjustments will be made from 1 March 2001:
The start-up price on all GSM calls will increase from NOK 0.45 to NOK 0.59. At the same time, the start-up price will increase for all calls in the fixed network from NOK 0.49 to NOK 0.59.
