Telenor Broadband Services continues to build on operations in Sweden

Telenor Broadband Services AS is establishing its own company in Stockholm to strengthen its position within broadband access in the Nordic region. Per Tengblad, today the CEO of Canal Digital, will head the company. Telenor Broadband Services AB will be in operation from May 1, 2001. The company will co-operate with Swedish companies with broadband access. The company will also contribute to create business opportunities for other Telenor companies in the Swedish market.
"Sweden is the leading country when it comes to broadband development in the Nordic region and is also at the forefront of global development. A substantial number of small and medium sized companies with important skills within broadband services have established themselves in Sweden. In addition, the Swedish market with nine million inhabitants and its strong economy is very interesting to Telenor. Sweden is strategically important for us both for investments and co-operation with different companies in addition to being a market for our services", says Stig Eide Sivertsen, CEO of Telenor Broadband Services.
Per Tengblad has a background as a Bachelor of Commerce and has 20 years experience as a manager in print media, film and TV in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic countries. The last four years as the CEO of Canal Digital he has built up the company in the Nordic region making it the leading distributor of TV channels and interactive services via satellite. Telenor Broadband Services owns 50 per cent of Canal Digital. Canal Plus is the other owner.
