Telenor is a co-organizer to the Oslo Conference on Partnerships for Sustainable Development, which features Al Gore and Muhammad Yunus.

"Partnerships for Sustainable Development - the Oslo Conference on Good Governance and Social and Environmental Responsibility" opened in Oslo yesterday (March 28, 2007) and closes tomorrow on Friday 30 March. The conference is hosted by the Norwegian Government and features former US Vice President Al Gore and Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus.

Advancing sustainability across all platforms

The past decade has seen the Corporate Responsibility (CR) agenda increasingly take the centre stage within the business community. The Oslo Conference aims to take the ongoing debate about business and sustainability forward by providing a platform for an integrated approach, comprising key players from government, business, academia, trade-unions and non-governmental organisations.

Showcasing Telenor initiatives

"This conference illustrates how prominent the field of Corporate Responsibility has become, and represents an excellent opportunity for Telenor to showcase some of our CR initiatives. I know that the hosts are grateful to Telenor's active participation and support", says Olav Hypher, Vice President and Head of CR, Telenor Group.

From Telenor, Senior Vice President Ole Bjørn Sjulstad will demonstrate how Telenor is contributing to the development of the countries in which we operate, in the session "Doing Business in Developing Countries".

Senior Advisor Einar Flydal will be giving his perspectives on the opportunities and challenge of using ICT to help combat climate change, in the session "Creating the Industries of the Future".

The conference is hosted by Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre, Minister of International Development Erik Solheim and Minister of the Environment Helen Bjørnøy.
