All Telenor Mobil's subscribers can now send text messages from their PCs via Outlook. The service is linked to the customer's mobile subscription so that the sender's mobile number will feature with the message. Should the receiver wish to reply, this message will automatically be sent back to the mobile.
This software addition so far works for those using Microsoft Outlook 2000 or XP, and may be downloaded free of charge from Telenor Mobil's web site, telenormobil.no.
Easier - and cheaper
"It has long been possible to send text messages from our Internet pages. If you send an SMS from your Outlook, it is simpler and cheaper to contact others. Sending messages to a group of people will certainly be far easier now," said Esben Tuman Johnsen, assistant Head of Information in Telenor Mobil.
You can choose whether to copy out the receiver from your list of contacts featured in your Outlook or to write in the phone number in the usual manner. It costs NOK 0.75 to send a text message to receivers within Telenor Mobil's network or NOK one to send a message to a competitor's network, a fixed line network, pagers or faxes.
You must have a password for Telenor Mobil's web services in order to send an SMS from your Outlook. Software and user's manual (in Norwegian) can be found at http://telenormobil.no/tjenester/smsfraoutlook/ .
