President of Pakistan to visit Telenor

In connection with Pakistan's President, General Pervez Musharraf's visit to Norway on 23-25 January, the President will pay a visit to Telenor on 24 January 15:00-17:00 CET. The President will participate in a Round Table Conference headed by Telenor's CEO and President, Jon Fredrik Baksaas. The Conference will also include 13 other top executives of Norwegian industry and commerce.

President Musharraf expressed a wish to meet with representatives of Norwegian industry, and the Round Table Conference will be on business opportunities in Pakistan. The registered participants at the Conference are (in alphabetical order): Paul Chaffey (Abelia), Ole Enger (Orkla), Thorleif Enger (Yara), Morten Fon (Jotun), Inge K. Hansen (AkerKværner), Arve Johansen (Telenor), Miklos Konkoly-Thege (DNV Det Norske Veritas), Helge Lund (Statoil), Asgeir Myhre (Teleplan), Bjørn Olafsson (NERA), Håkan Olsson (Normarc Flight Inspection Systems), Tore Torvund (Hydro) and Erling Øverland (NHO).

Representatives of the press and media are invited to attend a short press briefing with President Pervez Musharraf and Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas immediately following the Round Table Conference. The press
briefing will take place in the Telenor Expo Visitors' Centre at Telenor's Headquarters at Fornebu. Security measures will be strict, and we would like to inform visitors of the following practical issues:

-All journalists wishing to attend must collect their accreditation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press section press@mfa.no by Thursday 19 January 12:00 CET.

-All journalists must also make sure they carry clearly visible press IDs during their entire visit to Telenor.

-Camera stands, microphones and other equipment that must be rigged in advance will have to be installed between 13:00 and 14:00 CET on 24 January.

-All equipment will be subject to police security checks.

-Journalists must arrive at Auditorium A at Telenor Expo no later than 16:30 CET. Please note that the main entrance to Telenor Expo will be closed, and journalists will be required to use the entrance that leads directly into Auditorium A (down the stairs at the northern end of the Telenor Plaza, at the seafront end).

Telenor in Pakistan

Telenor launched mobile services in Pakistan in March 2005, after having won a tender competition for a national license for mobile telephony. At the end of the third quarter of 2005, Telenor Pakistan had registered 1.2 million subscriptions. Telenor Pakistan is wholly owned by Telenor.
