Petter Furberg to head Telenor Myanmar

Telenor Group has appointed Petter Furberg as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor Myanmar, effective from when the company receives formal approval from the relevant Myanmar authorities. Mr. Furberg presently serves as Chief Financial Officer of Thailand’s second-largest mobile operator, dtac, of which Telenor is a majority shareholder. He will be responsible for the rapid roll-out of a modern telecommunications network and related services to the benefit of the entire Myanmar population.

Since joining Telenor 14 years ago, Mr. Furberg has held a number of senior management positions within the company, including dtac’s CFO and Chief Marketing Officer, where he oversaw product development, sales and marketing. He also previously served as Senior Vice President, Head of Financial Services at Telenor Group. Prior to joining Telenor he held senior positions with the Norwegian Parliament and Norwegian Ministry of Finance.

Telenor also announced the appointment of other members of Telenor Myanmar’s executive management team. All appointments are pending approval from the Myanmar government.

Ms. Tipayarat Kaewsringarm has been appointed Chief People Officer of Telenor Myanmar. Previously with dtac, she has held a number of senior positions during the six years that she was with the company, including Head of the Project Management Office for the CEO, Chief Customer Officer and most recently, Chief People Officer.

Mr. Lars Erik Tellmann has been appointed Chief Financial Officer. He was previously Senior Vice President of Telenor Asia where he supported implementation of cross-border projects.

Mr. Prathet Tankuranun has been appointed Chief Technology Officer. Formerly the Head of the Network Operation Division at dtac, Mr. Tankuranun led the company’s 3G roll-out in Thailand.

Mr. Sharad Mehrotra has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer. Previously the Head of Distribution Program at Telenor Asia, he was responsible for achieving regional synergies and scale in all five of Telenor’s Asian operations. Mr. Mehrotra played a key role in establishing Uninor, Telenor’s operation in India and was part of its management team.

Mr. Gunnar Bertelsen has been appointed the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. He was previously Vice President Regulatory and Government Relations of Telenor Asia. Mr. Bertelsen has worked with Telenor for 15 years, covering Government Relations, Regulatory and Legal aspects, both at the Telenor Group level and in operating companies, including four years at dtac as Senior Vice President Regulatory Affairs
