The Budapest Business Journal selected Hungarian mobile operator Pannon GSM for the 2006 "Style in Business" award because of its social contributions through the Példakép Foundation and various programmes to support healthcare institutions.

Budapest Business Journal"Companies are never isolated from customers and their environment. They form an integral part of society; they create jobs, provide services and lend a helping hand, if necessary. At Pannon GSM these gestures reflect natural human behaviour rather than just a cleverly devised marketing strategy," said Dóra Somlyai, Communications Director of Pannon GSM. "For us, corporate responsibility is more than one-off PR campaigns seeking to earn fast returns. Our activities are planned and implemented with a much longer time-horizon in mind."

Translating creativity into business success

Every year, Budapest Business Journal distributes six awards to companies and executives that manage to translate creativity into business success and whose individual business style and social responsibility manifest themselves in extraordinary actions. Readers select three of the candidates nominated by BBJ journalists for each category in a representative survey. Short listed candidates are then introduced to the Board of Trustees of BBJ where they are evaluated by the delegates of Hungarian business representative bodies, and the American, British and German Chambers of Commerce in Hungary.

Social investments

The flagship of Pannon GSM's social investments is Példakép Foundation. In addition, the company is building strategic partnerships in culture and sports, and it regularly supports children's healthcare institutions and other community initiatives.
