Ove Fredheim appointed CEO Telenor Serbia

Ove Fredheim was today appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor in Serbia. Fredheim will take up the new position on 1 September, succeeding Kjell-Morten Johnsen, who became Head of Telenor’s European operations and member of the Group Executive Management earlier this year.

“It is my great pleasure to announce that Ove Fredheim will assume the position of CEO Telenor Serbia. Ove has a long experience from the CEE region, both from Hungary, Ukraine and Montenegro. I am confident that with his knowledge about the region and the extensive experience from the telecom industry, Ove can strengthen and further develop Telenor’s position in Serbia,” said Kjell-Morten Johnsen, Executive Vice-President, Head of European operations.
Ove Fredheim comes from Telenor Group Headquarters, where he was heading the Markets unit within the Group Industrial Development for the past three years. Prior to that, Fredheim served as CEO, Telenor Hungary, from 2003 to 2009. He has been with Telenor for 20 years.
“I am pleased to see that our leaders are able to easily alternate between the roles in the operational companies and the Group headquarters, and Ove is an excellent example of that. The balanced diversity in his experience will surely benefit the organization in Serbia, and the Telenor Group,” emphasized Johnsen.

Johnsen, who continued as Telenor Serbia’s CEO after he took on the new role as Head of European operations and member of GEM in May this year, will now be able to focus exclusively on heading the European operations.
Telenor Serbia is the country’s largest mobile operator, with 43 percent market share, 3.1 million mobile subscriptions (Q1 2012), 1 118 employees (Q1 2012) and total revenues of NOK 2,911 million (2011).

Ove Fredheim has been in diverse management positions in Telenor Group, including Telenor Mobile, Norway (Senior Vice President Products and Markets, 2001-2002) and Kyivstar, Ukraine (Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer 1999-2001).
He was member of the Board of Directors in Telenor Montenegro (2005-2008), Member of Operating Committee in DiGi, Malaysia (2001-2002) and currently participates in the Board of Directors in Telenor Norway. He holds a Bachelor Degree from Oslo School of Administration.
