It's becoming steadily cheaper for Norwegians to use their mobile phone when travelling in Europe. This year, Telenor has reduced prices for voice traffic on private subscriptions by up to 50 per cent, and the reductions mean total savings for customers of around NOK 170 million.

Telenor shall continue to work to make it cheaper and more predictable for customers in Norway to use a mobile phone when travelling in Europe, and at the same time EU regulates roaming prises in EU and EEA countries. This is why Telenor is introducing new prices.

"Our prices in the Nordic region are already under the price ceiling set by the EU, and they will remain so. In addition, in the Nordic region we will have one price for all operators to make it as simple as possible for our customers. For EU countries outside the Nordic region we are introducing prices that are in line with the EU's guidelines," says Ric Brown, Head of Mobile Private at Telenor.

Facts about Telenor's new international prices:

  • Minute price in the Nordic region is below the EU's price ceiling.
  • One price for all: Same price irrespective of which operator you use in all zones, including the Nordic region.
  • The current Europe zone is split into EU/EEA and Rest of Europe.
  • Implementation date: 15 January 2008 - subject to parliamentary, ministerial and EFTA approval.

* Tariff per minute started for all new prices listed above.

All prices are inclusive of VAT.

The prices above apply to pre-paid and post-paid subscriptions for private customers. Business customers have the same prices, except for in the Nordic region, where prices are somewhat lower.

Telenorhas agreements with operators in all European countries, which allows mobile subscriptions from Telenor to be used abroad. Using a foreign operator's network is called roaming.
