Oddvar Hesjedal new Executive Vice President in Telenor Group

Telenor Group today announced that Mr. Oddvar Hesjedal has been appointed to the position as Executive Vice President and Head of People Development. Oddvar Hesjedal will start in his new position on 14 March 2011. The position includes responsibility of Telenor Group HR operations and development, corporate responsibility, HSSE, event and corporate staff management.
Oddvar Hesjedal comes from the position as CEO of Grameenphone, the leading mobile operator in Bangladesh. He has served as CEO of Grameenphone since November 2008. Oddvar also served as Grameenphone's Chief Technology Officer since June the same year. Prior to joining Grameenphone, he has held various top management positions within the Telenor Group, including the position as CTO and COO of Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar and head of R&D.

Before he joined the Telenor Group, Oddvar Hesjedal was CEO of software and consultancy companies in Norway and Sweden. He has a Masters degree in computer science from the University of Oslo. Hesjedal is 60 years old, married and has three daughters.
The current EVP and Head of People and Development, Ingvald Fergestad, will continue his role as advisor to the CEO. This is the role he held prior to the temporary task of also heading people and development.
