Telenor Sweden has signed a Nordic partnership agreement with Finnish telecommunication company Elisa. The agreement covers the common development, marketing and support for communication solutions to large and medium-sized companies in the Nordic market.
The partnership covers Telenor's operations in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

"We have had a long and positive relationship with Elisa and we are now taking that one step further. This agreement represents an even stronger offer to companies with operations in more than one Nordic country, initially within WAN and mobile services. We see a clear development towards increased mobility, and our customers expect much from their pan-Nordic solutions. We are happy to complete our strong presence in Norway, Sweden and Denmark with a closer cooperation on the Finnish market. Finnish companies are the most mobile in the Nordic region and we can learn a great deal from developments there," says Morten Karlsen Sørby, Executive Vice President and head of Telenor in the Nordic region.

Key to the cooperation is the development of new products and services for pan-Nordic customers, and the development of common concepts for service, delivery and support. In addition, the ambition is to strengthen the commercial relations with regards to customers and segments.

"By choosing us, the customers will have one contact point and can utilise our common communications solutions for all of the Nordic region. We have already started the coordination so our organisations can work together as effectively as possible. We are convinced this partnership will lead to more pan-Nordic customer agreements," says Pasi Mäenpää, Executive Vice President at Elisa.

Finnish companies most mobile

In a recent survey* of Nordic companies, 60 per cent of decision makers stated that economic downturns did not affect their investment in mobile communication. The majority asked thought their investment would continue at the same rate or increase in 2009 compared with last year. Finland is at the top when it comes to confidence in the future and specific investment in mobile working, and Finns clearly lead the way regarding use of mobile tools. They also believe the need for mobile working practices will continue to increase over the next two years.
