Telenor invited Nobel Peace Prize laureates Professor Yunus and representatives from Grameen Bank to Telenor's headquarters on Saturday morning.

"I am honoured to welcome Professor Yunus and representatives from Grameen Bank to Telenor's headquarters this morning. We want to congratulate Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank with the Nobel Peace Prize. Professor Yunus and I had a good dialogue this morning regarding the future of Grameenphone," said Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO of Telenor after the meeting.

Grameenphone is serving more than 10 million people with communication services in Bangladesh, is employing directly and indirectly more than 100.000 people of Bangladesh, and is worth approximately three billion dollars, according to analysts.

"Given the size and impact of the company, the questions that have arisen deserve a thorough process conducted in a responsible manner. I look forward to further fruitful discussions with Professor Yunus and Grameen Telecom and I am very optimistic that we will find common ground for continued and strengthened dialogue to the best for Grameenphone and Bangladesh. As for today, I want to pay tribute to Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank," said Mr. Baksaas.
