The Telenor company Nextra, Norways leading IP based business communications services provider, has acquired Stuttgart-based Seicom. Seicom, a rising ISP (Internet Services Provider), is the third German ISP focusing on business-related solutions purchased by Nextra in the last four months, signalling the companys expansion into one of Europes largest and most attractive markets.
Established in 1993, Seicom provides communications solutions to several leading German organisations, including manufacturing giant Robert Bosch GmbH, the municipal government of the city of Stuttgart, and the regional government of the southern German state, Baden-Württemberg. Seicom currently has 15 employees, with plans to expand to 30 by this year.

According to Morten Lundal, Nextras Managing Director, the Seicom acquisition further strengthens Nextras position in Germany. With business ISPs e.comp and OMNILINK purchased late last year, Nextra has quickly established a strong position amongst the top ten ISP's in the German market. "Providing business related, IP-based communication solutions has enormous market potential in Germany," Lundal says, "and we want to position ourselves as a leading player."

"We needed a strong partner," said Winfried Haug, Managing Director of Seicom, "and Nextra is moving very fast in Germany." Haug explained that Seicom sought a partnership with a strong telecommunications company with European reach and ambitions to gain market share in the region. According to Haug, Nextra not only provides the full support of Norways leading telecommunications company Telenor, but a commitment to become one of leading communications service providers in Germany.
