Nextra AS has to day signed a letter of intent with Segmentor ASA regarding the purchase of the companys shares in digitoday ASA, which stand at 35.6 per cent. In addition, a second letter of intent has been signed by Nextra and digitoday concerning a private share offering that would result in Nextra becoming the majority shareholder in digitoday, with a 50.6 per cent holding.
The intention is that digitoday.no will be a part of Telenor Internet and it's content initiative. Telenor Internet already owns the portals: online.no, abc startsiden.no and frisurf.no. Telenor Internet is owned by Nextra AS.

«We clearly see great potential in entering into a niche portal such as digitoday.no. digitoday is one of the best environments within content production on the web today and has shown that it can operate profitably in a tough market»,says the director of Telenor Internet, Knut Haakon Nilsen. «As an owner, we wish to contribute in the further development of the portal. At the same time, we are concerned with preserving digitodays independent editorial position», he continues.

«We see significant potential in gaining an industry heavyweight such as Telenor Internet as a partner», says founder of digitoday, Pål Leveraas. «There are a range of factors which determine success with content on the Internet. One of these is editorially independent, quality content, which is one of our strengths. Among the others are core competence within distribution and technology. Here we foresee great synergies through the partnership with our new shareholder», he adds.
