Nextra, the Telenor owned pan-European communication service provider (CSP) has joined forces with remote access provider GRIC Communications, in an effort to make global remote Internet solutions available to business customers worldwide. This service enables a user to connect to any network (including the Internet), using a local connection from anywhere in the world. The high quality, fast connections will be charged at low local rates and can be coupled with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to create a secure remote connection to a company Intranet. The main advantages to a customer are significant cost savings in addition to high mobility.
Nextra CEO Morten Lundal said "We see availability and mobility as a key factor for companies and their employees. Nextra has therefore developed solutions with GRIC that enable mobile workers to do their job effectively, wherever they are. This strategic focus is in line with Nextra being a true business communication service provider."

The GRIC service complements the Nextra Net global roaming service, building a strong global presence in 95 countries. Nextra Net enables users to leverage several channels for mobile working, such as laptop and handheld computers (PDA), stationary PCs and WAP. This new mobile solution represents another addition to Nextras existing portfolio of products and services, which already includes access, VPN, Internet, Application Service Provision (ASP), messaging and hosting.
