Nextra, one of Europes fastest growing business-related communications service providers, today announced its acquisition of PVT.net, the Internet business unit of PVT. The agreement with PVT, the leading IT and communications system integrator in the Czech Republic, will enable Nextra to provide Internet services to customers across the Czech Republic. The acquisition also establishes a relationship between Nextras parent company, Telenor AS, and PVT.
«Nextra is already the second largest Internet provider for businesses in Prague,» says Morten Lundal, CEO of Nextra and Executive Vice President of Telenor. «Joining with PVT.net will allow us to extend the scope of our activities to the whole Czech Republic. It also provides the basis for future collaborative projects between Telenor and PVT.»

As part of its expansion into central and eastern Europe, Nextra has built a pan-European Internet backbone called Nextbone. Already the fastest backbone network in central Europe, Nextbone is currently being upgraded to 155 Mbps and provides a reliable, resilient circular network that links key cities in the region including Prague, Frankfurt and Bratislava.

Jiri Fabian, chairman of the board of directors and general manager of PVT comments: «For some time I have been aware that we needed to build on our Internet business by working with a strong telecommunications partner. We have found that partner in Nextra, and now we can focus on our core business areas providing IT and communications system integration skills to our customers.»
