The Hospital Development Project for Central Norway has chosen Telenor as its main supplier of ICT infrastructure for phase two of the construction of the new university hospital in Trondheim, Norway. The contract is worth approximately NOK 360 million.

The agreement between Telenor and the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway is an extension of the contract entered into with Telenor in 2004 concerning a similar delivery during phase one. The delivery was successfully concluded and handed over in June last year. In June 2005, Telenor also signed a contract with Helse ؘst (one of the regional health authorities in Norway) concerning a similar ICT delivery for Nye Ahus in Lørenskog, Eastern Norway. These contracts mean Telenor has taken a leading position in supplying total ICT solutions to the Norwegian hospital sector.

The contract with the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway covers supplying network electronics, cables, wireless networks, patient communicators, telephony solutions, patient terminals and portable computer and telephony units. Telenor will have overall responsibility for design, planning, delivery, implementation and training and the delivery will be completed in December 2009. In addition the solution will be linked to the ICT infrastructure delivered in phase one, so that the new hospital has a common, modern ICT infrastructure when it is complete.

Phase two of the ICT infrastructure will be carried out in cooperation with the same suppliers who helped secure the successful implementation of phase one. These suppliers are:

  • Hewlett-Packard Norge AS
  • Bravida Norge AS
  • Cardiac AS
  • Cisco Systems (supplier to Hewlett-Packard Norway)
  • YIT Building Systems AS

"Through the partnership with the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway, we have established a unique competence as supplier of total communication solutions and infrastructure for large organisations. We are also pleased to have been chosen as the total supplier for phase two, and thereby have the opportunity to complete one of Norway's most technologically advanced hospitals," says Rolv-Erik Spilling, Division Director and leader of Telenor's operations in the Norwegian business market.

"We are extremely happy to be able to extend the contract so we can maintain the experience we have built up. The partnership with the suppliers and expertise they can contribute are two of the most important elements in the K5 partnership model we use in phase two," says Johan Arnt Vatnan, Managing Director of the Hospital Development Project for Central Norway .
