Telenor International Centre's regional director, Leiv Svenning, has been appointed CEO of Telenordia in Sweden. Svenning is replacing Erik Heilborn who has stepped down on his own initiative. Heilborn has been employed in Telenordia for six years, the last two and half years as CEO.
As the new CEO of Telenordia, Leiv Svenning will be responsible for further developing Telenordia, which will become a 100 per cent-owned Telenor company as of October 1. this year. Svenning's main task will be to consolidate Telenor Business Solutions' activities in Sweden. Leiv Svenning played a role in establishing Telenor's activities in Sweden and Denmark, and was country manager in Ireland between 1997-99. Svenning has most recently been Telenor International Centre's regional director.

Under Heilborn's leadership, Telenordia has established a strong market position and is now Sweden's third largest fixed-line operator with a revenue in 2000 of SEK two billion. Owners Telenor and British Telecom have now decided to further develop the company separately through two separate operations which involves the take over of Telenordia by Telenor on October 1. this year.
