Mr. Tom Vidar Rygh elected new Telenor Chairman

The Corporate Assembly of Telenor ASA has unanimously elected Mr. Tom Vidar Rygh as new Chairman of the Board. Mr. Rygh succeeds Mr. Eivind Reiten and assumes position with immediate effect.
Tom Vidar Rygh, aged 43, is born in Tønsberg in the Southern part of Norway and has since 1992 been Executive Vice President and member of the Corporate Management of Orkla. Mr. Rygh has an MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and has been with Orkla since 1983. He has previously held board positions in businesses such as Storebrand, Dyno, the Oslo Stock Exchange, the Enskilda Group, Carlsberg Breweries, NetCom and Telia Overseas. He presently holds board positions in Industrikapital and Stepstone. Tom Vidar Rygh is married and has two children.

The Corporate Assembly has in the election of Mr. Rygh, emphasised Mr. Rygh's broad financial and strategic understanding, his international experience and contacts in addition to his long experience from Boards and Management of large industrial businesses, also within telecommunication.

The Election Committee of Telenor will continue its work connected to the composition of the remaining board members. Six members of the Board are elected by the shareholders, of whom three are up for election this year.
