Merkantildata ASA and Telenor Mobil AS have signed an agreement to cooperate on marketing- and the development of new solutions for the mobile market. The prime objective is to develop new solutions with wireless and mobile computer tools for the companies' joint customers in the business segment.
"We have long wanted to offer our business customers comprehensive, wireless solutions. In order to fully utilise our mobile technology and solutions for the benefit of the business sector, we have been looking for an external partner to integrate our wireless technology into other computer systems. The agreement with Merkantildata grants us this possibility, and I have great faith in the business opportunities sparked by this deal. Although we shall certainly see short term results from the cooperation, it is the long term perspectives, reaching into the 3G world, that will prove most exciting," says Telenor Mobil's CEO, Ingvild Myhre.

"We have been looking for a way in which to offer business customers the true freedom to work anywhere any time. We have spent a great deal of time trying to find a partner that can give us the possibility to develop and offer these kinds of solutions in cooperation with Merkantildata through our subsidiary Eterra Norway. The choice naturally fell on Telenor Mobil, both due to the technical quality of their network, and, not least, their vast experience and competence within mobile technology. Telenor Mobil is in the forefront in international development of mobile solutions. This in turn will allow us to fully launch mobile business solutions at an early stage," says Merkantildata CEO, Arne A. Jensen.

Both parties perceived this as a strategic cooperation agreement. The fact that the two companies have a corresponding view of the development of the market gives Merkantildata and Telenor Mobil a great opportunity by cooperating on the launching of their products. The aim is to formalise a cooperation which focuses on increased efficiency and profit by marketing and selling each others' products, services and solutions. The parties are committed to improving customer care, products, the range of services, the level of services and operational routines in order to achieve competitive advantages for the customer.

The strategic agreement is the basis for a variety of solutions specifically aimed at the business market in Norway.
