Jan Edvard Thygesen is taking on management responsibilities in the mobile company SONOFON while continuing to head up Telenor Nordic Mobile. Steen Jespersen is stepping down as CEO of SONOFON.

The decision was reached jointly by Steen Jespersen and the Scandinavian management of SONOFON, since the parties do not share the same views of the company's overall strategy for the Danish market. SONOFON is wholly owned by Telenor.

Jan Edvard Thygesen, CEO of Telenor Nordic Mobile and chairman of the board in SONOFON, is taking on Danish management responsibilities together with members of the SONOFON management until a permanent replacement is appointed. Since Telenor's acquisition of the remaining part of SONOFON in February 2004, Jan Edvard Thygesen has been in overall charge of Telenor's Scandinavian mobile business. Steen Jespersen has been CEO of SONOFON since October 2004.

"I should like to thank Steen for all his efforts for SONOFON and for our Scandinavian organisation. This past year we have created a strong Scandinavian mobile business, now with more than 3.9 million customers, which makes for great competitive possibilities. SONOFON will be playing a core part in the further development of our Scandinavian organisation," says Jan Edvard Thygesen.

Jan Edvard Thygesen (53) has been with Telenor since 1979. He has had a series of executive positions in Telenor, including being Deputy CEO of Telenor Mobil and the CEO of Telenor Invest. Jan Edvard Thygesen is on the management board of the Telenor Group. Trained as a Civil Engineer in electronics and telecommunications, he will be moving to Denmark shortly.
