Telenor is launching three new subscriptions featuring new call prices from home phones. It will now be much cheaper to call a mobile number and Telenor is introducing a new subscription which includes call minutes to both mobile and home phones. At the same time, Telenor is keeping the prices low for calls to other home phones.
"Telenor is the first in Norway and one of the first in the world to introduce a prepaid subscription which includes what the customer is looking for, both in terms of mobile and home phones," says Svein Henning Kirkeng, Director of Consumer Markets. In addition to offering the customer free call minutes to home phones, the subscription also includes 10 hours to all mobile operators in Norway every month.

Making it simpler for the customer

With these new subscriptions Telenor wants to make it easier for the customer to have an overview of the subscriptions and at the same time provide a more predictable telephone bill.

"This is why we have moved away from different prices for different operators," says Kirkeng. This applies to mobiles and home phones alike. Telenor has also introduced the same price difference on broadband telephony and analogue telephony, regardless of subscription, and offers the same services at the same price to the extent they are available.

"Together with Superbredbånd, which we are also launching today, we can now introduce packages to the market with faster broadband speeds and lower market leading prices," says Svein Henning Kirkeng.

That good long chat and safety for the whole family

In the past year Telenor has carried out several customer surveys to find out what the role of the home phone is. Customers have pointed out a number of benefits offered by home phones. First of all, they point out that with a home phone you can call those near and dear in calm surroundings, without the worry of signal and coverage issues indoors.

Kirkeng feels that when it comes to families there is also great concern for the safety of children. "Home phones always work; they are not dependant fully loaded prepaid cards or sufficient battery capacity, they are easily accessible. Reaching the whole family on just one telephone number is also a key point, especially for those living some distance from their families. We can also safely say that home phones make it really cheap for customers to use the phone," says Svein Henning Kirkeng in closing.
