Anne Marit Jacobsen wins Telenor Culture Award
"We are very proud to have this opportunity to highlight artists who have made a special contribution to Norwegian cultural life, as is very much the case with Anne Marit Jacobsen," said CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas at Saturday's award ceremony, which was part of Telenor's 150th anniversary celebrations at Oslo Spektrum.
Telenor's Culture Programme was established in 1995, in an effort to highlight the values that Telenor stands for. As part of the Culture Programme, the Telenor's Culture Award is presented to a prominent Norwegian artist each year. This is the tenth year that this award is presented.
Former winners include actor Svein Tindberg, artist Wenche Ãien, choreographer Kjersti Alveberg, singer, musician and songwriter Kari Bremnes, author and film director Torun Lian, actor Juni Dahr, author Ingvar Ambjørnsen, independent theatre group Verdensteateret and dancer Ingrid Lorentzen.
The award committee stated the following reasons for their choice of winner: "This year's winner receives the award not only for her outstanding work, but also in recognition of her capacity for being herself on stage through her many fascinating and various roles. Naturally, we are taken in with her characters, but we are also taken in with Anne Marit Jacobsen herself".
Anne Marit Jacobsen is employed at Nationaltheatret. She made her debut in 1969 and has since given us much joy through numerous roles in various theatre productions. She has also acted in a number of televised plays and feature films since making her debut as Hedvig in the televised drama THE WILD DUCK (Ibsen).
Through the years, Anne Marit has received a number of awards: In 1997, she won the Per Aabel Honorary Award. In 2003, she was presented with the Comedy Award for her interpretation of Lady Bracknell in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (Wilde), and the same year she also received the Aase Bye bequest.
Anne Marit scored one of her most spectacular successes with the title role in LILY VALENTINE (Russel), a role that she has acted on more 300 occasions, in front of more than 100,000 people.
The members of the award committee include representatives of Norwegian cultural life and Telenor: Choreographer Kjersti Alveberg, author Lars Saabye Christensen, actor Thorbjørn Harr and senior vice president communications Kai Rosenberg. The committee is chaired by composer and professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Bjørn Kruse.
