Job Description:
As the technical expert responsible for maintaining and optimizing Grameenphone's Microwave transmission network, this role ensures regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and seamless integration of solutions across the access network in alignment with design and planning. The incumbent will drive Transmission KPIs in collaboration with RAN and Core functions and manage lease line providers to uphold service performance and SLAs. Additionally, the individual will ensure timely integration and configuration within the access transport network, aligned with expansion and optimization objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure end-to-end operation and maintenance of the Microwave transmission network, targeting high availability and minimal downtime.
Guide managed service (MS) partners and field vendors to execute effective, compliant maintenance activities in accordance with operational standards.
Ensure Microwave network operations strictly adhere to national regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies.
Operationalize access network solutions based on design inputs, ensuring seamless integration and transition to stable operations.
Provide subject matter expertise in IP network domains, particularly within IP Backbone, IP Backhaul, and DWDM architecture.
Drive key transmission performance indicators—including packet loss, delay, jitter, and availability—in close coordination with RAN and Core teams.
Monitor and assess performance of lease line providers; initiate corrective measures to ensure SLA adherence and maintain service quality.
Lead incident resolution efforts through root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
Participate in periodic transmission audits and network health checks to support continuous performance and process improvement.
Champion automation and operational excellence in access network configuration to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Generate actionable insights and performance analytics on access transmission for both Grameenphone infrastructure and leased lines.
Lead spare capacity planning and dimensioning for the Microwave network in line with modernization goals, CAPEX allocations, and operational insights.
Ensure timely partner payment processing, while actively driving cost optimization and efficiency improvement initiatives.
Serve as the functional lead in crisis management scenarios (e.g., flood, storm), coordinating war room actions from the transmission perspective to minimize outages and accelerate service restoration.
Drive configuration and integration activities in alignment with the network expansion and optimization plan, ensuring timely execution as per defined timelines
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Telecommunication, Electronics, or Computer Science.
Minimum 8 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in Microwave network maintenance.
Demonstrated expertise in IP and DWDM networks, with a solid understanding of IP network quality parameters.
Proven track record in managing and governing vendors, including managed service (MS) partners and OEMs.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on transmission KPI optimization (e.g., packet loss, delay, jitter).
Sound financial acumen with experience in CAPEX/OPEX planning, budgeting, and cost optimization.
