You'll be joining a small team that is responsible for ensuring our data platform delivers maximum value to internal product teams. We are a high-performing team that collaborates to create exceptional user experiences and deliver a platform product that drives revenue for Telenor. We apply agile and iterative methods and operate in a collaborative, DevOps manner. We use modern tools and techniques, and you are free to choose between a Mac or Linux.

Who are You?

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer who can actively contribute to bringing our data platform forward.

 ·        You are passionate about building a state-of-the-art data lakehouse based data platform providing our clients with high quality data and excellent tooling.

·        You value practical solutions and business impact over specific technologies.

·        You’re a skilled coder who can contribute to homegrown solutions when required.

·        Working together with colleagues inspires you, and creating quality products is a motivation.

·        You take pride in crafting quality code and solutions that the users love, you are passionate about data engineering work, and you are motivated by making users happy.

You will be involved in the entire development lifecycle: from requirement gathering and analysis to design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.

Skills We Are Looking For

To thrive in this team, we believe you should have knowledge and experience in many (but not necessarily all) of the following areas:

·        Excellent problem-solving capabilities.

·        Developing and maintaining cloud-native applications, including setting up resources with Infrastructure-as-Code: AWS (Amazon Web Services), Terraform, Terragrunt.

·        Traditional Data, Big-Data or Data streaming solutions and more modern Lakehouse solutions, including Apache Kafka, Databricks and AWS Athena.

·        Experience with data transformation using Databricks medallion architecture and modeling with SQL.

·        Experience with data transformation frameworks like dbt or SQLMesh.

·        Experience with data pipeline implementation, orchestration and maintenance.

·        Some experience building and maintaining ML pipelines.

·        Programming: Python, Spark, SQL.

·        Code-versioning and CI/CD: GitHub, GitHub Actions.

·        Metrics collection, visualizing and alerting (observability): Prometheus, Prometheus Alertmanager, Grafana

Most of the engineers in the team have an M.Sc. in Computer Science, or similar relevant experience/education and we think you have the same. Our working language is English; therefore, a fluent English level is required.

How We Work

We follow Agile methodologies to plan and execute our work, but we are not strict about it. We adopt what works best for our current setup. OKRs, sprints/kanban, daily standups, quarterly planning meetings, retrospectives and 1-on-1s are part of our routines; we use JIRA and Confluence to keep things organised. We sometimes pair-program, many times we rely on code-reviews. All the time, we use reason to argue with each other and accept that we do not always need to agree. We always respect each other.

Some of the Benefits We Offer:

Some of the benefits we offer are an excellent canteen (subsidized lunch), coffee, snacks, opportunity to book company-subsidized cabins, a subsidized gym membership, an insurance scheme, corporate discounts, good pension plan, professional development opportunities through company-paid courses and tons of social activities.
