Nextra creates major new force in European messaging services

Telenor's Nextra establishes a new company, TTYL (Talk To You Later),to take advantage of growing demand for seamless messaging services.
Nextra, one of Europe's foremost internet-based service providers for the international business community, today announced the creation of a new messaging business, TTYL. Though a subsidiary of Nextra and, in turn, Telenor, the international telecommunications operator, TTYL will operate as a standalone business operating in a number of countries across Europe, with its headquarters in Oslo.
TTYL stands for âTalk To You Later, which emphasises the philosophy of the company; to provide European enterprises with a range of messaging applications and services such as e-mail solutions, unified messaging and more - opening the door for further communication.
TTYL will provide an outsourced messaging service for SMEs, initially via ISPs, CSPs, ASPs, telcos and other messaging operators. At a later stage, TTYL will also offer services directly to small and medium sized enterprises in Europe. Users will have access to virtual private mailboxes, secure e-mail and filtering services, directory services and back-up/relay services. TTYL believes that functionality of messaging is important, but more than this, businesses require services which are highly scalable, reliable and robust. Working in conjunction with Nextra - which has a 10-year plus track record of messaging services - TTYL has focused on ensuring that customers receive industry-leading levels of quality of service, combine with scalability and robustness.
Ingvar Straume, CEO of TTYL, said of the creation of this new company: "We recognise that small and medium-sized enterprises need access to leading-edge messaging services, allowing them to stay in touch with customers, partners and colleagues at all times. TTYL will provide these same enterprises, throughout Europe, with a range of secure and reliable outsourced messaging applications which are tailored to the needs of European SMEs - a market size of in excess of 100 million employees."
TTYL will integrate applications from various software developers based on open platforms, which enables the company to always offer leading edge services. Furthermore, TTYL is a highly focused organisation - addressing the business market in Europe - unlike many of TTYLs competitors, whose approach is more consumer-orientated.
TTYL can also call upon the extensive skills and resources of its mother company, Nextra, a communications service provider (CSP) which already successfully provides a range of Internet solutions in over a dozen countries throughout Europe.
The board of TTYL will be headed up by Morten Lundal, as chairman, Per Björk and Abraham Foss - all three also being members of the Nextra management team. CEO, Ingvar Straume, will be supported in day-to-day running of the company by a highly skilled organisation numbering some 50 people, and a strong management team. The organisation has already commenced business and will be operational in a number of countries across Europe by the end of the year, including Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands.
