Om stillingen

Group Legal is the legal department of Telenor ASA and a key advisor to Group Executive Management. We play a central role in managing risk across large and strategically important projects. We are now seeking an experienced Competition Lawyer to join our Corporate M&A team. This is a rare opportunity to work on international, complex, and high‑value transactions for one of Norway’s largest companies, and to help further strengthen our competition law practice.

Group Legal serves as the global hub for competition law in Telenor. All transactions across the company are assessed by our team, which also oversees group‑wide competition compliance, provides advisory support, delivers training and awareness activities, and maintains governing documents within the field. As our new Competition Lawyer, you will gain broad exposure to diverse and challenging projects that will support your professional development and allow you to make a meaningful impact.

In this role, you will take on significant responsibility within competition law and work closely with our global Business Units, government authorities, and external law firms. You will be involved throughout the entire transaction process, from strategy and risk assessment to planning, advisory, and execution, and will engage directly with the European Commission and other international competition authorities – always as part of a larger team.

You will join a highly skilled team of nine lawyers, including dedicated M&A and competition law specialists, working closely together across areas such as group risk, litigation, financial reporting, IPR, IDD, sanctions, and corporate governance. From our perspective and humble opinion, this is one of the most exciting legal roles currently on the market!

By joining our team, you will:

  • Provide competition law advice in large international transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships

  • Be responsible for the full competition law process, from analysis and merger filings to guidance from signing to closing

  • Handle Requests for Information from the EU Commission and other competition authorities

  • Identify competition-related legal risks and contribute to effective mitigation measures across the Group

  • Contribute to Group-wide competition compliance, including training, awareness activities, guidelines and governing documents

  • Support with strategic advice and supporting Telenor ASA and Business Units in achieving business goals whilst at the same time protecting the interests of Telenor AS

  • Continuously ensure alignment with the Telenor Group governing principles and policies

Who we are looking for:

To succeed as Attorney at Law, we believe you have solid business acumen and commercial judgement in combination with strong competition law expertise. You work independently with high integrity in a complex, fast-paced environment. You are proactive, identify solutions and provide practical advice, and enjoy the balance between operational and strategic tasks. Working across Business Units, borders and cultures, excellent cooperation and stakeholder management is crucial.

Qualifications

  • Master of law or equivalent

  • Licensed lawyer (advokat)

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within competition law and from transactions

  • Strong knowledge of EU competition rules, particularly EU merger control legislation, including knowledge of FDI and FSR

  • Experience from working in a private law firm or in a large and complex, and preferably, international organization is an advantage

  • Fluent English and Norwegian language skills, both written and spoken

  • Experience of working with the Competition authorities, both with respect to merger notifications and investigations
