About the position

Looking for a workplace for the future?

At Telenor, your career is truly your own. Here, you have the opportunity to shape it in the direction you aspire to, while contributing to technological innovations that today barely exist even in imagination – innovations that we know will redefine how we communicate and live our connected lives in the future.

If you’re looking for a workplace where you can be part of creating what matters most – the connections between people – then welcome to Telenor.

We are now looking for Datacenter Engineers to join our Operational Security function within the Datacenter Infrastructure team.

How you’ll make a difference with us

We are hiring hands-on security engineers to work operationally close to data centre operations — reducing risk, improving compliance and creating secure, auditable flows. You will have a clear core focus, but you won’t work in isolation: we deliver as one team across platforms and tools, with automation and data-driven ways of working as common ground.

You will work closely with the team’s security specialist and maintain frequent dialogue with Telenor’s central security functions. Together with Service Delivery Coordination & Operational Excellence, you are responsible for continuously contributing to and improving our security procedures (policies, playbooks, standards) so they are living, effective and embedded in day-to-day delivery. Your main responsibilities:

  • Work hands-on in data center environments with operations and platform/security teams to reduce risk and improve compliance.

  • Standardise and document (runbooks/playbooks); ensure traceability in change/tickets; drive knowledge sharing.

  • Measure and visualise security posture (e.g., hygiene, SLAs/lead times, remediation times) in dashboards; communicate status to stakeholders.

  • Introduce automation for checks/reports/notifications (scripting, scheduling) and integrate with change/processes where applicable.

  • Collaborate closely with the team’s security specialist and maintain regular dialogue with central security functions for direction, priorities and escalation.

  • Co-own security procedures with Service Delivery Coordination & Operational Excellence —continuously improve policies, baselines, standards and enforcement in delivery.

We are currently looking to fill two roles within the following focus areas, or ‘cores’, in the team:

Vulnerability & Patch Management (Linux-focused)

You will own the vulnerability process: What the tools do — asset inventory, scheduled and ad-hoc vulnerability scans, correlation of results and risk-based prioritisation using known weaknesses, context and exposure. Why — to identify issues early, steer patch/hardening and lower risk in a traceable way.

You ensure findings translate into remediation and verification. Beyond ensuring scans run and reports are produced, you enrich reports with clear remediation recommendations per stakeholder group (what to do and how), based on real risk analysis supported by available functions and knowledge base. You improve data flows (schedules, data quality), build automation for updates, checks and reporting, and collaborate with operations to keep the environment current and compliant. Core responsibilities include:

  • Keep scanning reliable over time (onboarding of targets, schedules, data quality) and follow up findings through remediation/validation/reporting.

  • Drive patch/hardening in Linux environments; contribute to Windows patching when needed in collaboration with Windows specialists.

  • Enrich reports with stakeholder-tailored remediation guidance —i ncluding how to execute — based on risk analysis and established knowledge base.

  • Build automation for updates, schedules and reporting; collaborate on baselines/deviation handling (Linux/AD/Windows) and endpoint protection/compliance.

Governance & Security Implementation

You will drive governance and security implementation end-to-end: What the tools do — monitor compliance, compare against policies/baselines/controls, surface deviations, support root-cause analysis and orchestrate the rollout/change of safeguards. Why — to consistently put the right protections in the right place, increase traceability and raise the security posture across Windows, Linux and AD. You also protect patch/image sources and package repositories with signing, scanning and access controls, follow up deviations and action plans, and integrate controls into change processes so they are sustainable in operations. Core responsibilities include:

  • Compliance assurance: establish/update policies, baselines and controls; track deviations and drive action plans to closure.

  • Control implementation: hardening/configuration, access controls, segmentation and verification — all traceably tied to change.

  • Improve detection/analysis/orchestration to validate control effectiveness; maintain playbooks and run periodic ‘control health checks’.

  • Protect repositories (patch/image sources, container registries) with signing, scanning and access control; monitor integrity and the supply chain.

Are you the one we’re looking for?

We need someone who’s always on their toes! You have a genuine desire to learn and develop so we can continue to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs – today and tomorrow.

With at least three years of professional experience, you ideally bring a background from IT security, computer science, or network engineering, though formal education is not a requirement. You have hands-on experience from datacenter or hybrid environments and have worked in roles such as operations or systems engineer, or within security, vulnerability management, patching, SOC, or platform operations.

We’re looking for someone who works data‑driven, enjoys automating and streamlining workflows, and communicates insights clearly to both teams and leadership. You collaborate naturally across operations, platform, security and SOC, and you’re comfortable using scripts and tools to make work more predictable. Experience in end‑to‑end vulnerability management or security implementation, IR, detection/orchestration, or repository security is a plus.

Both roles follow regular office hours but may require on-call duty when needed. The position is based at either our Stockholm or Karlskrona office, with the option for hybrid work. Swedish proficiency is not mandatory but seen as a plus, while strong English proficiency is required.

Traits that help you thrive:

  • Collaborative and communicative.

  • Analytical, curious and solution-oriented.

  • Structured and quality-focused (traceability/audit).

  • Calm and strong in prioritisation during incidents/spikes.

  • A drive to automate and make work predictable.

Our promise to you!

We are better together. Here, you’ll be part of a family-like and inclusive culture, built on strong shared values and leadership that empowers you with both trust and confidence. We believe in enabling each other to act and make decisions, while always having each other’s backs through ups and downs.

We support relationships and societies.Telenor plays a vital role in the society, giving your work a greater purpose. Every day, we create value for millions of people and maintain a customer-first approach where human relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

We make room for life. Work from home up to two days a week, if your role allows it. The rest of the time, we create magic together at the office. You also get two ‘give-me-a-break’ days per year for extra time off, and our flexible working hours help you balance your time. We support you through every stage of life with our benefit package, including collective agreements, occupational pensions, wellness allowances, and customized insurance solutions tailored to your needs.

We invite you to a career in motion. Your development is at the center of our culture. We dedicate at least 40 hours per year for you to deepen your expertise, explore new areas, and develop in your role. Through Telenor Academy and other learning initiatives, you’ll have the tools and freedom to advance your career. If you want to broaden your horizons, we are present throughout the Nordics.
