Telenor Group announced that is has appointed Ragnar Kårhus as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor Broadcast Holding AS and Canal Digital AS, effective 1 August 2014.
Canal Digital and TV 2 sign new distribution agreements
Canal Digital and TV 2 have signed new comprehensive distribution agreements. TV 2’s channels will therefore be available during the years to come to almost one million households who are cable and satellite customers of Canal Digital. The agreement has also been adapted to for the every day of modern television, and includes new and innovative services.
THOR 7 to provide faster broadband connections from the South Pole
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting’s (TSBc) latest satellite, THOR 7 will provide the Norwegian Troll base located at the South Pole with increased satellite capacity for the distribution of key meteorological data from the research station, Trollsat.
Norwegian Prime Minister impressed by THOR 7 briefing
Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Telenor Group President and CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas visited THOR 7-supplier Norspace in Horten on Wednesday. A satisfied Prime Minister saw the result of local value creation based on global contracts to supply equipment to Telenor’s next satellite.
New satellite from Telenor
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has decided to invest in a new expansion satellite. The satellite will be named THOR 7 and is expected to be ready for launch towards the end of 2013 with a lifespan of 15-20 years. The satellite is intended to provide capacity for broadcasting requirements within Central and Eastern Europe and additional capacity for maritime services.

VRT selects Norkring as network operator partner
The Flemish Radio and Television Network (VRT) today announced that Norkring, a subsidiary of Telenor and Norway’s leading provider of terrestrial broadcasting services, has been selected as private sector partner for VRT’s transmitter network. The new network operator will be owned by the VRT (51 %) and Norkring (49 %).
