About the Partnership

Telenor and Vodafone are the first with multi services IPX, delivering 5 separate services over a single IPX interconnect. Both companies initially deployed an IPX interconnect to roll out 4G diameter services and subsequently added 2G/3G signaling, data roaming, SMS hubbing and HD voice across the same interconnect.

Telenor and Vodafone see the IPX as an opportunity to further differentiate ourselves in the market by integrating the various firm wide network assets more tightly. Such new technology also helps overcome the reluctance to use the public internet as a bearer for time-critical services and it helps us gain competiveness in the industry.

Operators implementing multi service IPX over a single connection will gain advantages such as simplifying the interconnect process, cost reduction, reduced time to market and higher customer satisfaction. Since all players adhere to a single GSMA standard it becomes easier and cheaper for other carriers and even OTT suppliers to partner with us, thereby potentially opening new markets for the Carrier Service Providers to exploit.
