The Group Executive Management (GEM) is an advisory body to the CEO and is made up by the Heads of the four Global Units, the three Cluster Heads and Heads of the three Support Functions.

Sigve Brekke

President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Background: Sigve Brekke, born 1959, joined Telenor in 1998 as an Advisor, and was in 1999 employed as Manager Business Development and later Managing Director of Telenor International, Region Asia. Mr. Brekke served as co-Chief Executive Officer of dtac from 2002 to 2005, and Chief Executive Officer in dtac from 2005-2008. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and Head of Asia Region, prior to his appointment to President and CEO. Before joining Telenor, Mr. Brekke has served as the State Secretary (Deputy Minister) of Defence in Norway in 1993, and has also held position as associate at the Center for Science and International Affairs, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.

Education: Mr. Brekke holds a Master degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Jørgen C. Arentz Rostrup

EVP and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Background: Jørgen Rostrup, born 1966, has more than 20 years’ business experience in an international context and comes from the position as President of Yara North America, Inc. He has a broad range of management positions in two of Norway’s leading companies, including Country Manager for Yara Ghana Ltd., CFO in Norsk Hydro AS, Executive Vice President Energy in Hydro and CFO for Hydro’s Norwegian oil and gas activity. Rostrup has also been on several boards, including positions within the private equity and investment banking area.

Education: Jørgen Rostrup holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

Cecilie Blydt Heuch

Background: Cecilie Blydt Heuch, born 1965, has more than 25 year’s business experience in an international context and comes from the position as Chief HR Officer from DNV GL, a position she held for 11 years. Education: Heuch graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. She holds a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Diploma of Business Studies from Henley Management College.

Anne Kvam

Anne Kvam

Background:  Anne Kvam, born 1967, previously held the position as Head of Responsible Investments at KLP Kapitalforvaltning AS, where she was also part of the management team. Kvam has significant board experience, and has served two years as member of Telenor’s Corporate Assembly.

Education: Anne Kvam holds a Masters of Business Administration from University College Dublin and a law degree from the University of Oslo, specialising in international human rights.

Ruza Sabanovic

Background: Ruza Sabanovic, born 1971, joined the green field operations in Telenor Montenegro in 1996.   Since 2014 she was SVP Technology and Industrialized projects, part of the Group Industrialized Development team.  She has previously served as Chief Operating Officer in Telenor India and was also heading Group network function and Group CTO forum. From 1994-2008 Ruza served as the assistant professor at the Civil Engineering Faculty, University of Montenegro.

Lars Thomsen

Acting EVP and Chief Marketing Officer

Petter-Børre Furberg

EVP and CEO of Telenor Norway

Background: Petter-Børre Furberg has extensive experience from several of Telenor’s operations and business areas. Since joining the company in 1998, he has held a number of senior management positions, including EVP, Cluster Head for Emerging Asia and part of Telenor’s Group Executive Management, CEO in Myanmar and Bangladesh, CFO and CMO in dtac, Thailand, and Head of Financial Services for Telenor Group based at Fornebu. Furberg started his Telenor career in the finance department of Telenor International in Norway. Today he is CEO of Telenor Norway and member of Group Executive Management (GEM). Prior to joining Telenor he held senior positions with the Norwegian Parliament and Norwegian Ministry of Finance.

Education: Furberg holds a degree in economics and business administration based on a four year programme (Siviløkonom) from the Norwegian School of Economics and is a Certified European Financial Analyst (AFA/CEFA).

Jukka Leinonen

EVP Nordic Cluster and
CEO of DNA, Finland

Background: Jukka Leinonen has over 30 years of experience from ICT industry. Leinonen has worked at DNA since 2010, when he joined the company as Senior Vice President, Corporate Business. In 2013 he was appointed CEO of DNA. During 2002-2009 he held various senior  management positions in corporate business sales, marketing and product management at TeliaSonera Ltd. During 1996-1999 he served as President and CEO for Sonera Solutions Oy. In addition to his role as CEO of DNA, Leinonen is head of Telenor Group’s Nordic Cluster, consisting of Telenor Sweden, Telenor Denmark, Telenor Norway and DNA, Finland.

Education: Master of Science, Electrical Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology.

Irfan Wahab Khan

and CEO of Telenor Pakistan

Background: Irfan Wahab Khan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Pakistan on 1 August 2016 and is also Head of Telenor’s Emerging Asia Cluster. Earlier, he held the role of Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Telenor Pakistan, a role he took on in April 2013. He has been with Telenor since 2004, when he became the first employee of Telenor Pakistan, serving as Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs Division. Since then, he has served in various positions within Telenor Group, both in Asia and Europe, including Vice President Devices and Vice President Head of Asia Distribution. Mr. Khan is also a Board Member of Telenor Microfinance Bank.
