PHOTO CONTEST “A UKRAINE FOR EVERYONE”
(11 September 2008 – Kyiv, Ukraine) East Europe Foundation and Telenor announce photo contest “A UKRAINE FOR EVERYONE”. The purpose of this photo contest is to raise awareness of social problems and motivate people to be proactive in the life of local communities.
Contest Categories:
- The Community in Action: People working together on behalf of the local community
- From One to All: Small businesses help sustain the economical development of the whole country
- I know How to Live: Vulnerable populations like the elderly and the disabled living full lives despite their disadvantages.
- Ray of Hope: Vulnerable youth like orphans and disabled children study and take active part in community life.
- Preserving Nature: Energy efficiency guarantees us a future.
- People’s Choice: The public will be able to vote for their favorite photograph on the East Europe Foundation website (www.eef.org.ua).
All entries should depict real-life situations in which the central figure is a person (people, the community). Photographs, may but do not necessarily have to include the community as volunteers working on social projects and helping other people; small businesses representatives working and showing off the results of their work; the elderly and disabled living rich lives despite their disadvantages; vulnerable youth like orphans and disabled children studying and participating in community life and struggling through difficulties; and people and communities that implement innovative, energy-efficient technologies like solar and wind energy.
Prizes*:
Prizes have been generously provided by Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor.
Grand Prize: 9000 UAH
1st Place in Each Category: 2200 UAH
People’s Choice: 2200 UAH
The best photos will go on display at an exhibition to be organized and announced at a later date. They will also be accessible on the East Europe Foundation and Telenor websites.

Participation in the photo contest:
Everyone who is enjoying photography and wishes to devote his/her picture to the topic of the contest may participate. There are no geographical limitations for the works. Pictures may be color or black and white, but no less than 30x40 cm. Please provide the pictures in TIFF or JPEG, 300 dpi, without compression.
The deadline for submitting the works is 3 October 2008. The results of the contest will be announced on the web site of EEF www.eef.org.ua on 1 November. Winners will be informed personally.

By mail: 55, V. Vasylkivska Str., 3rd floor, Kyiv, 03680, East European Foundation. Please write “Photo Contest” on the envelope.
By e-mail: contest@eef.org.ua with the title “Photo Contest”.
You should add to each photograph:
- Title of the work
- Place and time of shooting
- Name and contact details of the author
Quality of the pictures should be high enough in order to print them out at least in A3 format for being exposed at the exhibition.
The pictures that do not correspond to the specifications, would not be considered.
Conditions:
By entering this contest, the photographer relinquishes full rights to the East Europe Foundation and Telenor, acknowledging that both the East Europe Foundation and Telenor may use the photographs in promotions or publications of any kind.
The organizers will ensure due recognition and acknowledgement of the photographer of any photography used. The submitted photos will not be returned and become property of the East Europe Foundation.
By entering the competition, participants automatically agree to the contest's rules and conditions.
Selection Panel:
The selection panel of the photo contest will consist of representatives of the East Europe Foundation and Telenor, among others.
