Christopher Howson was born in Solihull, UK and graduated with a BA from the University of Cambridge in 1981 followed by an MSc from the University of Durham in 1982. In 1987, he completed an MSc on Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering at the University of Bradford, UK and thereafter joined the Telecommunications Laboratory of the GEC Hirst Research Centre in Wembley working on millimetre-wave communication systems. In 1990, he moved to Thomson’s R&D laboratories in Strasbourg, France developing innovative satellite and indoor communication technology for consumer applications. Since 1996, he is a part of the Thomson Corporate Research activity based in Rennes, France where he is currently a Technical Manager working on end-to-end system solutions for broadband and mobile content distribution.
