corporate ethics

Telenor's objective is to assure its customers, investors, employees and other stakeholders that the group is committed to high ethical standards, with clear ethical guidelines and sound risk management, both in Norway and abroad.

NEW CODE OF CONDUCT

Telenor worked to revise and modernise its "Code of Conduct" according to new requirements and expectations in 2002. This process is being continued, and the complete guidelines will be made available in the first half of 2003. The Code of Conduct will apply to all the group's employees, management and board members.

THE ETHICAL COUNCIL

Telenor's Ethical Council considers specific ethical dilemmas ranging from everyday problems to commercial assessments. All employees can report issues to the Council, which is headed by the CEO. Among the issues handled during 2002 were:

  • Ethical questions connected with workforce reductions
  • The establishment of new guidelines for ethical business
  • Development of an anti-corruption policy
  • Telenor's position on ethical indexes
  • Telenor's response to the EU hearing on responsibility for web hosts

Following the EU hearing on responsibility for web hosts, Telenor developed a policy covering responsibility for content distributed via the company's network.
