Procedures for 2008
For 2008 Telenor and the jury have agreed on the following theme:
" The impact of internet and communications technology on the home and consumer environment".
The prize can be awarded to individuals or research groups for work that has been carried out in the Nordic countries, or by citizens from these countries. Anyone may nominate candidates for the prize. The procedure are:
- The proposals are evaluated by an Award Committee in accordance to the following
criteria, of which one or more may be decisive:
- Relevance in relation to the subject for 2008
- Documented professional quality
- Documented effect in the form of e.g. products or business innovation
- The Award Committee’s evaluation of the work’s pioneering nature and its potential in contributing to the development of the information society
- Publication and dissemination and of results
- For 2008, proposals must be delivered to secretariat at Telenor at latest
August 18.
- Within this deadline the nominators shall send their proposals with a brief
argumentation. The argumentation should be related to the five criteria listed
above. The text must be written in English, and should not exceed three A4-pages.
In addition, a list of references must be submitted, and it must be pointed
out which of these are considered to be the three most significant for evaluation
of the candidate's contributions. The proposer must be ready to provide access
to the three publications on short notice, either electronically or as full-text
copies.

- The Award Committee will first select the most promising candidates from
the submitted proposals. These are subjected to further evaluation based on
studies of the three indicated publications. In this phase the proposers may
also be asked to give reference to other professionals that can make a statement
on their candidate. This will form the basis for the final choice of recipient.
- The 2008 winner will be presented on October 22th at "Technoport
Awards 2008" in Trondheim. The winner shall also give a lecture the
day after related to the work that has been awarded. Telenor will cover the
winner's expenses for attending these events.
- The committee will make their decision by end of September, after which
the proposers will be informed if their candidate has been chosen as winner
or not. The name of the winner will however not be announced before the presentation
at Technoport
- Candidates should be informed by the proposer about being proposed, date and venue for the presentation of the prize and the obligation to give a lecture.
