Foros at The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and Senior

Telenor R&I lanserer mobil Facebook-klient

28.06.2007) Nettsamfunnet Facebook har opplevd en eksplosjonsartet vekst de
siste månedene og er også blitt en viktig arena for å introdusere
nye tjenester. 28. juni lanserer Telenor Research and Innovation (R&I) en
mobil klient på Facebook der brukere på farten kan delta i nettsamfunnet.
Man kan blant annet skrive meldinger og laste opp bilder direkte fra mobilen,
samtidig som man har tilgang til alle sidene i FaceBooks mobile løsning.
Telenor's Research Prize 2006 to Professor Petri Mähönen
(Trondheim, Norway, 5 October
2006) The Telenor Research Prize of NOK 250,000 has been awarded to Professor
Petri Mähönen at the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. The winner was
presented by Morten Karlsen Sørby, Head of Telenor's Nordic Operations
at the Technoport Awards event in Trondheim 4th of October.

Joint Research Initiative with IBM for Advanced Mobile Services

IBM and Telenor R&D have announced an agreement outlining a joint research
initiative for the development of advanced presence services for mobile users.
The results of this initiative will help transform the way customers communicate
and perform their work tasks, both within the private and public sectors.
Ericsson
and Telenor to test convergent and seamless IMS Services
(Wednesday, February 15
2006) Ericsson and Telenor R&D are set to run tests on Ericsson's IMS solution
for convergent services. This Ericsson IMS solution will offer a seamless customer
experience with personalized, context-aware services and applications independent
of location, network, platform, media type and device. Several activities are
planned for 2006.
Opera,
FAST and Telenor Collaborate on Mobile Services R&D
(Oslo, Norway/Barcelona,
Spain 14 February) FAST Search & Transfer ASA, Telenor R&D and Opera
Software ASA are collaborating to bring best-in-breed technology and end-user
expertise to mobile portals. The three companies are developing a complete system
for delivering relevant location-based information, including localized content,
news feeds, maps and traveling information directly to end-users mobile
phones. The R&D solution will be demonstrated at the 3GSM World Congress
in Barcelona, Spain from (insert dates) at the Opera Software stand (E36/37)

(Oslo/Kuala Lumpur 2006.01.20) Global telecommunications leader Telenor today
named Malaysia as the location for the Telenor Research & Innovation Centre

Seven
partners start up innovation company
(Fornebu 2006.01.17 ) Norway
is at the forefront of using wireless technology and mobile services. Recently,
seven Norwegian companies entered into a new partnership called Movation AS
in order to encourage more innovation in this field. The intention of the partners
is that this should become an arena for creativity where experts from various
professional backgrounds and disciplines can make use of their skills in new
ways in order to secure innovation. The aim is to increase value creation through
exports.

Research Award 2005 to Professor Ramjee Prasad

Telenor's Nordic research prize of NOK 250,000 has been awarded to Professor
Ramjee Prasad at the University of Aalborg. He is awarded the prize for his
impressive merits within the field of wireless and personal communications.

in Trondheim 19 October.

Telenor
lanserer unik mobilguide på Nobels Fredssenter
(Fornebu, 07.06.05) Telenor er en av hovedsamarbeidspartnerne til Nobels Fredssenter,
og informasjonssystemet mGuide er ett av flere bidrag fra Telenor. Brukerne
av systemet får automatisk lastet ned informasjon til sine mobiltelefoner
om objektet de til enhver tid står i nærheten av. Systemet tas i
bruk for første gang når Nobels Fredssenter åpner 11. juni.

Teknologisamarbeid mellom Colibria og PATS forskningslaboratorium gir grobunn
for bedriftsetableringer
(Trondheim/Oslo, 11.11.04) Colibria har gått inn som teknologisponsor
i forskningslaboratoriet PATS ved å levere teknologi som understøtter
bruker- og lokasjonsstatus for mobile kommunikasjonstjenester. Posisjonsbevisste
kommunikasjons-tjenester blir stadig viktigere og ved å tilgjengeliggjøre
denne teknologien for teknologistudenter, gir det god grobunn for etablering
av nye bedrifter for fremtidig ny tjenesteproduksjon i Norge og for eksport
til utlandet. Over flere år har Ericsson, HP, NTNU og Telenor bygd opp
et laboratorium for forskning.
Electronic
tracking of grazing sheep
(Oslo 2004.09.29) Telespor ("Teletracking") is a new company established
by Telenor R&D and the Norwegian meat producer Gilde Norsk Kjøtt
BA together with entrepreneurs. The aim of the new company, which is a world
pioneer in its field, is to develop IT solutions, which revolutionise the observation
and tracking of grazing sheep and livestock. The IT solutions are intended to
reduce the cost of rounding up sheep and loss of farm animals to predators and
from injuries.
Telenor's
Research Prize 2004 awarded to Swedish pioneer
(Fornebu 14 September 2004) Telenor's Nordic Research Prize of NOK 250,000 has
been awarded to Professor Claes Wohlin at Blekinge Institute of Technology in
Sweden. He received the prize for his research on the quality and efficient
development of software engineering, a field where he is ranked a leading international
researcher.

(Fornebu, 23.02.04) The EU funded Integrated Project BROADWAN has started. The
project targets low cost broadband access solutions for everyone with the ambition
of positioning European industry in the lead. The consortium comprises 25 partners
from 10 countries including operators, industry, academia, and consultancy.

Telenor Nordic Research Award 2002

Nordic Research Prize for 2002 is awarded to the Danish Professor Christian
S. Jensen. He was awarded the NOK 250,000 prize for his research within database
technology, with special regard to mobile Internet services. Professor Jensen
is working at the University of Aalborg, Denmark.

for the first time demonstrates seamless access with a PDA
(12.03.02) Premiere at the EURESCOM workshop 'Wireless Access' in Heidelberg:
The EURESCOM project on 'Bluetooth Access' presented the first PDA, which can
seamlessly connect to different access networks, like LAN, Bluetooth, Wireless
LAN, and GPRS.
FS-VDSL
Committee: System Demonstrators
(25.02.02) The FS-VDSL Committee has successfully demonstrated delivery
of multiple services over its target architecture. The principle objectives
are to verify multi-vendor equipment and software interoperability, and to test
end-to-end performance for key technical aspects of the FS-VDSL system specifications.
Telenor
licenses patents for video over Internet and UMTS
(06.02.02) As a result of research, Telenor has developed technology for effectively
transferring video over different networks, such as the Internet and UMTS. This
is a part of the multimedia standard MPEG-4. Together with a number of other
global leaders in the field, Telenor has established a major international licence
programme for commercialising video coding patents in this standard. The licence
programme makes the technology available for suppliers who develop products
based on the standard. This will enable a breakthrough in the market for video
on demand.
